Power Cup is fast approaching with less than a hundred days to go. This is reflected in the end of the first registration period for Finnish teams. The registration for the 1st period of Power Cup gathered 751 teams for the junior volleyball event, which will be played in Loimaa from 5-8 June.

“What a fantastic number of teams. At this point we have already exceeded the total number of teams from last year’s event. The teams for this year’s event have already registered quite early compared to previous years. If the teams continue to register at the same pace, we will see a much larger number of teams than in previous years and maybe even a record number of teams”, says Power Cup Event Manager Anna Komu.

“As a local organiser, we are especially excited to be hosting the biggest Power Cup since the pandemic in Loimaa! The last time the Power Cup was held in Loimaa in 2006 the event gathered 918 teams. We are heading towards that number of teams. Preparations are also well on track, and volunteer recruitment is in full swing”, says Katariina Kojo, local Power Cup manager.

There will be some memorable moments when the Power Cup travels to Loimaa for its 40th anniversary year. Alongside volleyball, there will be a wide choice of activities. In addition, the Power Market will be present every day at the event area with a wide range of stands for both players and visitors participating in the event. The artists who will provide entertainment at both the opening and closing parties of the Power Cup, will be announced later. The youngsters have been invited to suggest artists on the Power Cup’s social media channels.

Beside Finland, teams from Latvia, Estonia and Romania have registered for the event. Registration for international teams is open, while the 2nd period of registration for Finnish teams will open on 14 March. Registration for the event closes on 31 March. After that, the final number of teams participating in the entire junior volleyball tournament will be known.
